Off with old and on with the new.
A lot has happened since I last amended this website. I directed Muse of Fire/Flammens Muse last year for Grønnegårds Teatret a performance of selected scenes from Shakespeare with Lars Mikkelsen, Thomas Magnussen and Klaus Risager. We performed the piece for the first time at Hofteatret in Christiansborg. It was so well received that we have been taken up by Martin Tulinius and will give it a repremiere on the 5th of January 2008 at Kaleidoscop 2 in Østerbro.
At the moment I have nothing to complain about since after I translated Pavel Partykka's novel Splinterella and Other Fairytales for Adults from Danish into English I have had tons of offers.
I am directing Snake in the Grass by Alan Ayckborn for an exciting new English theatre company The Why Not Theatre and also Sheherazade by Anna Bro for Valby Scenen. Furthermore I have been working as voice coach to Terese Gargas on the feature film Love Me Forever for Movie Fan.
I have just enough time to draw breath before starting work as Vivienne McKee's Assitant Director on the up coming Crazy Christmas Cabaret Fogg's Off Around the World in 80 Days at Glassalen in Tivoli.
During the three weeks between the premiere of Fogg's Off and first rehearsals for Muse of Fire I hope to be working on a commercial for Toyota which I have been shortlisted for.
So as I said I can't complain, I can only hope this trend continues into the new year.
Barry McKenna.
